Snow…some new tunes…and 3 papers!!

SNOW was all the rage at school today. They have been predicting snow the past few days and then around 3pm…it started!! You have to understand, we live in the south. It NEVER snows here. When it does, it is an event. I didn’t even go to the grocery store, but I guarantee you there is no milk or bread left. I also didn’t rush to the gas station. I may not be a true southerner, but I already got gas the other day, I don’t drink milk, and bread gets moldy in our house because we make like 2 sandwiches a year. Of course, I did make chocolate chip cookies just in case of a blizzard!!  At this point (11:30pm), we’ve had about 2 inches of snow that is melting rapidly.  We’ll either go tomorrow or be out both days.  Hard to say at this point.  Good thing I have unlimited texting, I’ve heard from almost every NCCS student this evening!  I’m just as excited as they are!

I am hoping for a snow day tomorrow because I could really use some sleep and a chance to get caught up. Seminary started back this week and I have been really busy at school too. We have had a teacher out for the past two weeks and I have been covering some of his classes. Also, our Varsity Girl’s basketball coach had to have emergency eye surgery last week, so he has been out of comission. I was taking the season off to focus on grad school and all the exciting things that come along with being a new administrator. However, the honeymoon is over, and I am back to coaching basketball it seems. I’ve been with the girls 2 weeks now and we have had 2 wins and it really has been a blast hanging out with them again. I love the opportunities that sports present to build relationships with students. God used sports as the vehicle for me to come to Christ and I am so thankful for the opportunity to coach in a Christian school.

When I got home tonight, I decided that I should sit down and write so that I could get ahead in seminary. This weekend Clint and I are going to slip out of town for a couple days and it would be great to have no homework to do. I had three papers to write in order to make that happen.

I started to leave them for tomorrow to work on during the snow day we are all praying for. Then, I decided that would be the lamest way to spend a snow day, so I sat down and knocked them out in about 4 hours this evening. I am so pumped…I’m done and I will submit them all tomorrow. Oh yeah…and the cookies were amazing!

I have really enjoyed sitting here working in front of the fire with some candles burnings and some new stuff on iTunes. I downloaded the newest MercyMe album “All that is Within Me”. I love this group and appreciate their commitment to lyrics that have a message and music that is well done. If you are looking for something new, be sure to check out this album. I think “Goodbye Ordinary” might be my favorite so far.

All that is within me

Oh yeah…and on top of everything else going on, I had the tremendous honor of speaking to all of our middle and upper school students in their chapels this morning. I used the Brad Paisley song “Online” **edited** and talked about AUTHENTICITY. We had a good time. I used some questions that came from my small group study of the book “Deadly Viper Character Assassins”. I’ll leave you with those to ponder. Don’t forget to pray for snow. Now that all the work is done…I’d love to sleep in!

When was the last time you had a completely honest conversation about your struggles with someone that you trust?
What areas of my life am I most prone to be deceptive about?
Why do I feel pressured to lie to certain people?
Why do I think I need to lie?
What’ll happen when I’m found out?
What would it feel like to stop lying and be free to be honest and open?
