Emma: April 2011

Sometimes I feel like I should just let Emma do the monthly blog updates.  She’d probably even do a better job!  Just a few minutes ago, she jumped up and ran inside yelling “I’ve got to check my email!”  She came back out on the deck with her little laptop and quickly got about checking her email.  I’m sure she probably has more Facebook friends than both of her parents put together!

This month has been a blast as we enjoyed Spring Break, celebrated Easter, hung out at the Big Shanty Festival, took the boat out three times, enjoyed visiting with my mom one weekend and my brother another, and made tons of fun memories in between.  The weather has gotten warmer and all the pollen has moved out, so we are spending a large portion of our days outside playing.  Emma still loves to go to her preschool and always looks forward to the crafts, snacks, singing, snacks, playground time, and snacks.  Did I mention how much she loves the snacks?!  We are so grateful for her sweet teachers and all the fun things she is learning at school.

Emma has been able to count and say the ABC’s for quite a while now.  She also recently started saying all of the months of the year.  She is doing her very best to write her name and loves to draw on all the pages in her tablets.  Every night when she goes to bed, she piles up a ton of books in case she wakes up and wants to read.  That reminds me so much of when I was little!  I hope she always loves to read.

Since Clint plays softball on Tuesday evenings, Emma and I have come to look forward to Girls Night when he heads out.  We have gone shopping, eaten frozen yogurt at Menchie’s, visited the neighborhood playground, and even had a blast just playing in her room.  I know that before too long, Emma will be far too busy with school, friends, sports, and other things to hang out with us very often…so I am making the most of it now.  After all, she has no car and no money, so I think that makes us pretty appealing to her for the moment!

We spent the last weekend of April in Nashville so that I could compete in the Country Music Half-Marathon and so that we could spend some time with our dear friends that live up there.  On the way there and back, Clint and I both agreed that we were going to look for ways to be more creative with quick family getaways.  Emma is such a great little traveler and we want to make sure she has some fun memories to look back on as she gets older.  Our little adventurer can always make any activity into something exciting!

I have posted several pictures below from this past month.  Thanks for letting me brag on the way that God is using Emma to help Clint and I understand what it means to truly run hard after Him!
