Michelle Obama: A Life is an interesting biography about our First Lady.  This book is currently available for free on Kindle and I’d encourage you to pick it up.  I have enjoyed watching Mrs. Obama grow more comfortable in her role as First Lady.  I have also really appreciated the efforts she has made to make life in the White House as normal as possible for her two daughters.  This book is a quick read and worth your time if you are interested in finding out more about the lady behind our President.

Here are some things that I highlighted while reading…

  • Michelle Obama is a one-woman, no-B.S. zone.
  • This focus on the practical side of things was pure Michelle – commonsense, real world, results-focused.
  • Obama may have a thick skin, but she also has a sharp head – and she wasn’t about to let her enemies define her.
  • Michelle Obama has settled on the two causes that are most important to her: fighting childhood obesity and supporting military families.
  • She is a fiercely protective and involved mother.
  • Another key component of Obama’s appeal is that she’s clearly enjoying herself.
