Emma: June 2012

As all of the months preceding have also been…June was a blast!  We had a great time with Emma getting to do some very fun things.  We started the month by hosting a garage sale and Emma loved it!  She was very helpful in organizing all of our stuff.  After the garage sale, we headed up to Summerville to spend the afternoon with Clint’s mom and stepdad.  Emma loves Granna and Poppy!

The next week was a busy one for the Strange Crew.  It was Cedarcrest VBS (at NCCS) and Emma’s first week of Camp Eagle.  Emma was at school from 7am-9pm just about every day that week…but she loved every second of it!  She is always easy going, but that week was super crazy.  VBS was awesome and it finished up Thursday night.  Emma loved her first week of camp and she is making some very sweet friends.  Camp Eagle has a ton of activities and Emma loves her sweet teachers.  After camp that Friday, we all came home and crashed very early!

On Saturday, June 16th, we loaded up and headed to San Francisco for a week.  Clint’s new job is based out of San Fran and we tagged along since I was starting my break from school.  We spent Saturday and Sunday touring the city and doing lots of fun things.  During the weekdays, Emma and I dropped Clint off at work and went exploring.  Our two favorite spots were Apple and Stanford University.  She and I took the red-eye back on Wednesday night and she slept like a rock on the plane.  She was a real trooper with all of our travelling, late nights, and skipped naps.

We came home for a few days before our next adventure.  We spent our home days on the lake, at Moe’s and Menchie’s, and the pool.  Emma has decided she doesn’t need her floaties anymore.  She took them off and jumped right in to Clint.  She is pretty good at kicking her legs and moving her arms.  We are going to do swim lessons, but it is great to see how well she is doing on her own.  She is still a bit nervous in the water…but that certainly doesn’t slow her down from running and jumping into the pool!  She also started jumping off the boat into the lake…with her lifejacket of course!

The last week of June was fun as we drove to Nashville to meet up with my sweet sister Katie.  Katie and her awesome husband JD offered to keep Emma for a few days so that Clint and I could go out of town for a few days.  Emma was so pumped about “Camp Katie” and she ended up loving every second of it.  I’m so grateful for an awesome sister and bro-in-law that were willing to take such great care of our sweet girl.  June was a busy month, but a lot of fun!

The most awesome highlight of the month?  I’m glad you asked!  Emma has memorized her first Bible verse.  The theme verse for NCCS for the 12-13 school year is Psalm 86:11.  I’ve been working on it with Emma in 2 and 3 word sections for several days.  While we were in San Francisco, we would work on it in the car.  One day, she just giggled and then said the whole thing…”Teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth.” Psalm 86:11.  Pretty awesome first verse to learn!  I pray that will be true for her.  My second favorite highlight is that Emma can now spell her entire name, first, middle, and last with no trouble.  Aunt Katie worked with her a lot on this.  Oh yeah…she also started writing her name.  Lots of firsts this month…lots to celebrate!

Here are some pictures from our month…
