What a month! Our family of three is now a family of four as we welcomed our sweet Eli officially home on May 9th. This month has been a whirlwind of lots of fun firsts and figuring out what it means to be a family of four. God has truly blessed us and we know that we have a lot of adventures left to come…especially this summer!
We spent the first week of May in Ethiopia introducing Emma and Eli and then officially bringing our son home. Once we arrived back in Georgia, we jumped right in to life…powder puff football, field day, end of school activities, cheer camp, piano recitals, church activities, meeting new family and on and on. Emma had a really fun first as she was invited to sing the National Anthem at Field Day for the Lower School at NCCS. I loved that she did a great job…and that she didn’t realize it was a big deal. My hope for both Emma and Eli is that they would never be hung up on any talents and abilities as if they are theirs to enjoy…but instead to be used for God’s glory and the good of others.
Emma also had her Spring Musical Program which was Eli’s first introduction to the NCCS family. When Emma’s class walked out onto the risers, Eli started waving like crazy…I thought Emma was going to bust she was so proud to have him there! We had a great time meeting up with Clint’s cousins Paula, Bo, and Alex and their families for dinner so that we could meet Bo and Lindsay’s Bennett and they could meet our Eli. We had a great time hanging out with all of them and always look forward to spending time with the Brison crew!
Emma had her second piano recital and that went well. She has really gained confidence in her playing and we look forward to seeing where that leads. That occurred at the end of the week after she had cheer camp…also another favorite. Eli did a great job tagging around to all of big sister’s events and activities. Emma and Eli really love each other and it is such a blast to see each of them light up when the other comes into the room!
We headed up to Kentucky on Memorial Day weekend to hang out with my brother Kevin and his sweet fiancee Marina. It was a great chance for our family to meet Marina’s family. We had a great time! It was so fun to see everyone and to get to introduce Eli to Uncle Kevin, Marina, and Uncle Deedle. We really enjoyed getting to see everyone and had a great time in Bowling Green, Kentucky!
The last week of school was full of fun parties and other celebrations. Since my high schoolers were all taking exams, the evenings were free of normal school activities and our family started the transition to summer activities as we headed to the pool a few times and took wagon rides throughout the neighborhood. We love summer!
