I read a blog entry today that reminded me of a prayer that had stirred my heart hearing it for the first time many years ago. The prayer was uttered by Sir Francis Drake in 1577.
“Disturb us, Lord, When we are too well pleased with ourselves, when our dreams have come true because we have dreamed too little, when we arrived safely because we sailed too close to the shore.”
It also reminded me of an email from a great friend a few weeks ago. It is exciting to know that God is up to something!!
All year long, I have been saying that this year at school is going to be really hard. We are going to look back and say it was really worth it because it was really hard!
Here is her email…
“I just came across this as I was getting ready for tomorrow’s class and it was funny because it brought up another of the spiritual themes we have encountered this year: this is a line from the notes:
“When adversity comes in the form of confusion, suspicion or division–spiritual warfare is on. Put on the full armor of God. Eph. 6” You are right in the thick of the battle. Where else would you want to be?”
This post really ministers to me…
thanks.
Would it be ok with you if I refer to your blog (this post)especially?
