Emma and Eli: May 2018

May comes in fast and furious and is pretty crazy for all 31 days.  I think that happens in order to make us enjoy the slow pace of summertime!  May was super fun for the Strange crew!  The preschool at NCCS had a bike rodeo an Eli loved it…lots of fun!  We continued with lots of baseball for Eli and softball for Emma.  Clint took Eli to a classic Corvette car show because our boy is all about cool cars these days!  My Mom came down for a visit and we had a great time visiting with her and just enjoying the time together!  We wrapped up another golf season at school and celebrated that everyone made good progress this year.
We had dinners out with friends and then began all of the end of the year celebrations…Concert Choir concert for Emma,  Mother’s Day tea with Eli, Powder Puff football with the faculty, Mother’s Day with Clint’s mom, a sweet Mother’s Day for me…and then Clint headed out of town for work for a week.  It’s always a busy week when he is gone, further reminding me what a team we make!  Clint is so sweet to bring the kids to school in the mornings so I can head in early while it’s still quiet and get some things done.  When he is out of town, their days tend to be a little longer, but the kids were AWESOME about it.  I can really tell how much they are growing up!  While Clint was out of town, Eli’s team made a remarkable comeback in the playoffs and went all the way to the championship game before losing in the finals.  We had the end of the year parties for both Emma and Eli and then Clint came home late Friday evening.
We woke up early Saturday, May 19 to head over to Birmingham for the National Math Competition for Emma.  This started back in February when she was a state winner in Jonesboro.  Then…winners from 11 states competed in the Region Math Competition in Atlanta at the end of March.  Region winners went on to compete in the National Math Competition in Birmingham and Emma finished 7th over all in the 3rd grade category.  She was the only girl in the top 10.  It has been super cool to see her discover this passion for math!  Even cooler…our family has had the best time cheering her on in this.  My Mom and Dan even drove in from Birmingham to surprise her and Dan took us all out to eat afterwards to celebrate.  What a special time!  The next day Emma had a piano recital.  Because of her chorus competition Friday (gold medal for the group!), math competition on Saturday, and piano recital on Sunday…we called it the Weekend of Emma.  And sweet Eli was always cheering the loudest for his favorite sister!
From there it was a downhill slide as we headed into the last week of school.  We enjoyed the awards days for both kids, played outside late into the evening, had end of the year parties with lots of smiles, snow cones, and friends.  Clint even took the day off to take Emma to Six Flags on the last day of school since all the schoolwork had wrapped up.  We had graduation on Friday night of Memorial Day weekend and then we celebrated the official start of summer by heading over to Alpharetta for two days of some of our favorite restaurants, shopping, hotel swimming, hotel tv, and just catching some much needed family time.  We are looking forward to a GREAT summer!  Clint and I are so blessed to have a front seat to what God is doing in and through Emma and Eli and we are so grateful for the amazing family and friends that are investing in our family in so many ways!
