SEEK THE LORD

It’s easy to read the story of King Rehoboam in 2 Chronicles and think “I’d never do that!” He was the grandson of King David and the son of King Solomon and had all this world has to offer at his fingertips. Rather than being a king who honored the Lord and cared well for his people, he chose to do everything he could to elevate his own status and make himself and his family comfortable. He did evil things and he is remembered for those things.

I’m so grateful for the note in 2 Chronicles 12:14. We must daily choose between the things of this world and the things of the Lord. It’s often a choice between good things and the best thing (always Christ). As a person and as a leader, if I don’t daily set my heart to seek the Lord, I’ll be remembered just like Rehoboam as someone who squandered my gifts, hurt people, and wasted my life.
